My family and I have recently started visiting the White Hart for Sunday lunches and it is now our favourite place to go. The kitchen team produce beautiful meals which they clearly put a lot of effort in to; and this is reflected in the taste and texture of the food. Furthermore, they cater for restricted diets with ease and willingness and are knowledgeable about what is and what may not be suitable. There is an exciting vegan (not just for vegans) menu which offers a variety of tempting Starters, Mains and Puddings. My favourite is the Mushroom Bourguignon pie which is always served with a perfectly crunchy pastry. Inside is a flavoursome filling of button mushrooms, onions and gravy with a distinct (and scrumptious) garlic and pepper undertone. I have been able to choose between having this with either the carvery vegetables and potatoes or as it comes on the menu. The carvery wins each time because the potatoes are fluffy inside with a crunchy shell and the vegetables are fresh and full of flavour and colour. The front of house team are inviting and friendly and manage busy periods well; they treat each customer as a new customer greeting each one which a smile regardless as to how much pressure they must be feeling when the bar is full.
Sadly it seems to have gone down hill. Not the place I remember and has a very limited menu.Thanks for the response, i reviewed this 6 months ago. Im sure its improved a bit now.
Lovely Sunday roast plus good selection of vegan and vegetarian choice. Friendly staff.Well worth a visit
Cant say thank you enough. We stayed after being evacuated because of the Ocado fire. Not only did they charge us the cheapest rate where other hotels had increased theirs to take advantage of the situation but they also lets us stay with our dogs which they dont normally allow. Thanks again
Room was enormous and well stocked. There's a iron, ironing board, fan, heater (not that you'd need it) hairdryer, soap and shower gel, as well as all the usual things.Breakfast was lovely but make sure you tell them no extras if you have a small appetite. Bar meal in evening was fantastic value.
